As with any sport, practice is key, but if you want to reach your maximum potential, it’s important that you have your goals in mind even when you leave the gym. In today’s post, we will talk about a few of the most common mistakes cheerleaders will make. If you’re determined to turn your practice into perfection, browse the programs available at Tumblestunt and enroll today!
Eating Before Practice
Food is necessary for producing the energy you need during practice, however, one of the easiest mistakes you can make is eating too close to the beginning of practice. Depending on what you eat, food can take from anywhere from 30 minutes to six hours to completely digest and provide you with the desired energy. That being said, until your food is digested, it’s just sitting in your stomach. If you go to practice with a full stomach, all the movement could even make you feel sick.
If you’ve had a long day and you’re desperate for a little extra energy to get you through practice, it’s a good idea to plan ahead. Plan to have a small snack approximately half an hour before practice begins. A good snack is a piece of toast with peanut butter. The carbohydrates in the bread will turn into energy at a faster rate, and the protein in the peanut butter will satisfy your hungry tummy.
A Wasted Summer
Although you would probably much rather spend your summer sleeping in or going on vacation, this is a great time to get in some extra practice and really fine tune your skills. Unfortunately, many people choose to forgo practice, which can do more harm than good when it comes to reaching your full potential. Cheerleaders are part of a team, and as such, it’s important to work hard to improve your skills, therefore increasing your value as a team member.
Lack Of Time Management
If you are dedicated to improving your cheer technique, there’s no question that you will find yourself spending hours of your time at the gym or working on routines and stretching at home. In order to real results, it’s not only important to dedicate yourself, but also your time.
With effective time management, it’s possible to schedule time for cheerleading and time for other pressing matters in your life, such as family, friends, and school. One of the most common mistakes people can make is not scheduling their time. If you don’t plan accordingly, you may find that you are stretched too thin and can’t fit everything into your day.
